CONTENT CURATION

Hello guys!

Today I will talk about curation contents. We going to know different websites where we can get a lot of resources related with clil.

When we want to search tools or resources from internet, we should visit special websites related with education topic such as:

List.ly: https://list.ly/

For this time, I have used Pinterest because I had a profile and I´m used to it.

Pinterest is like an online pinboard where you can create as many boards for your pins as you want, which is great for organization. For example, if you like collecting pictures of zoo animals, you can create a board and label it “Animals.” On the other hand, if you also like collecting education tool or information.
Pinterest users interact with each other through liking, commenting, and repinning each other’s stuff. That’s what makes it such a hot social network.

Here is my Clil resources board!

I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks a lot!

Picture resources for CLIL lessons

Hello everybody!

Today I will show you some pictures that I have used in a Natural Science  CLIL lesson.

This lesson is related with the vertebrate animals.

I will explain why I have used these pictures and where I found it.

In order to explain vertebrate animals, we will use different pictures to show our pupils real animals.

Firs of all we will show a snake picture.

Reptiles are vertebrate animals characterised by the way they crawl or drag themselves along the ground. Examples include the snake, the crocodile, the lizard and the tortoise. This is because they originally lived in water.  Evolution has enabled them to fully adapt to life on land. Nevertheless, they do normally live near water (reservoirs, lakes, the banks of rivers, etc.).

Reptiles’ bodies are generally covered with a dry skin made of scales. They breathe through lungs and are cold blooded, i.e. their body temperature varies according to climatic conditions. The majority are oviparous, reproducing by means of eggs that incubate in a nest. There are some 8,000 different reptile species in the world.

Next image is related with birds. Birds belong to the vertebrates group. Their principal characteristic is that they can fly. To do this they have an aerodynamic body, and their front limbs have evolved into two wings of identical shape and size.  The ostrich, emu and penguin are amongst the few exceptional bird species that cannot fly.

Other characteristics of birds include having a body that is covered in feathers, breathing through lungs, and having a beak instead of teeth. Birds are oviparous, that is to say that after mating they lay eggs and leave them to incubate until their young are born.

Birds are the most abundant species on earth. There are more than 9,000 different types of birds.

This bank of picture are so useful. We can find pictures related with animals to use it in CLIL lessons.
Also, we can use video resources in our lessons.

MY AVATAR

I have been created by an app: ToonTastic.
Firstly, I used other tools from the learning guide such as Tellagami or Doppelme. However, I prefer using ToonTastic.

With Toontastic I  created, animated, and narrated my own avatar. It’s as easy as play. Just move your characters around on the screen, tell your story, and Toontastic records your voice and animations and stores it on your device as a 3D video. Toontastic is a powerful and playful way to create interstellar adventures, breaking news reports, video game designs, family photo albums, and anything else you might imagine! It was fantastic to work with this app because you have a lot of possibilities. Even you can explain some contents of a subject through an animated story! It is great!

In my opinion, using an avatar can be a very interesting activity. Through it, our students can represent other reality and they can make their wishes come true. This is a very interesting way to introduce yourself to classmates.

I have learned how to design an avatar and how can I use it through the internet. I have never had an avatar and to be honest, it is fantastic! You can use it instead of your identity!

I think that I could use it in different educational ways. My students can use ToonTastic to create an avatar. Then, they can design an story, using a topic that we had worked in the classroom.
Also, it can help students gain experience and confidence before presentations and to share their learning.

Thank you! See you soon!
